How a Vision can cause us to Prosper or Perish Part One

Proverbs 29:18, ’Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]--blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.’

If we never have a vision, a goal, an ambition, something that we would like to accomplish. We will never get anywhere in life. When we fail to make proper plans for our future it will always seem bleak and hopeless and this is what this passage is telling us but in a way we never thought of before. Let us look at this verse one more time and hear what God would have to say to us through his Word. The word of the Lord is telling us about three very important facts concerning this portion of scripture. This scripture is talking about firstly

1. Spiritual Darkness - if we do not have a revelation of who God is, then we live in ignorance or darkness. If we live in spiritual darkness then we live lives that has two essential traits missing

a. Faith -(Mk 4:40,’ He said to them, Why are you so timid and fearful? How is it that you have no faith (no firmly relying trust?) If we are in spiritual darkness we will never walk in faith and always doubt the word of the Lord.

b. Fruit - (Gal 5:22-23,’But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].) At a point of spiritual darkness, we can never bear the fruits of the spirit which is essential to our walk with God.

Spiritual Darkness robs us of a life of faith and bearing fruit. The scripture is not finished revealing the word of God as we also see it talks about
